Voluntary work is the base of an authentic society

Abbas Musa

The culture of voluntary work has spread during the past ten years through the growing role of civil society organizations, but this culture is not new to the culture of the community of Al-Jazeera region. In defining the term voluntary work, we can say that it is any not paid work. The volunteer spends time doing a job, even though he does not have to do it directly. Voluntary work holds the society together by mixing people with each another and helps spread the culture of fine work.

Al-Jazeera community and voluntary work concept

The concept of voluntary work is old in the region. However, many philosophies have confirmed the importance of it since ancient times. Al-Jazeera community is an authentic society, based on a culture of reliefing whoever needs help, the affected people and refugees, although religions also emphasized these concepts, but this does not mean that credit is due to religions in that, because this culture exists in non-religious societies as well.

When we know that the concept of voluntary work is related to civil society, we must know the date when this term began to enter there. But we must say that civil work in societies related to the Christian religion started from the church, while among the Kurds it started from partisan political life, and among the Arabs it started from Charities.

Voluntary work after 2011

200 civil society organizations operate at the level of Al-Jazeera region, which means that hundreds of people are linked to the work of these institutions and that this culture is increasing in spread. But in order to assess voluntary work closely, we must say that civil society institutions with a big budget were able, on the one hand, to spread this culture and on the other hand to nullify it, because most projects of civil society institutions are based on the support of the American foreign ministries and European Union countries, so the concept of voluntary work loses its meaning because the worker receives a wage from the self-Administration, but nevertheless the concept of voluntary work was settled slowly in the society.

Displacement crisis, an examination of the effectiveness of voluntary work

Since the beginning of the Turkish invasion and its radicla Islamist factions in the region on October 9, 2019, thousands of civilians have fled from the cities of Serê Kaniyê (Ras Al-Ain) and Girê Spî (Tel Abyad) and their countryside, and have settled in relatively safe cities and towns nearby, so the need to rush with the help of these IDPs has huger, in conjunction with the withdrawal of international relief organizations and international civil society organizations, only local organizations remained to offer hell on a small scale. In this difficult examination , hundreds of people rushed to stand by local organizations to help the IDPs. It also turns out that only voluntary and organized work is most effective one.
